Our pupils took the lead at our annual Winter Fayre by designing, budgeting, and creating their own stalls. They sold a fantastic range of items, including Christmas decorations, homemade slime, sweet bags, Christmas chocolates, biscuits, and traditional old-school cake with custard. There were also fun games and face painting stalls for everyone to enjoy. The pupils worked incredibly hard to create a truly festive and welcoming Fayre and were proud to share their achievements with parents, carers, and staff. Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised over £450, which will be used to purchase essential items for people experiencing homelessness this winter.
Christmas has arrived! Our pupils have been getting into the festive spirit and had lots of fun celebrating Christmas Jumper Day.

We had a brilliant time celebrating Sports Day. From cricket and relay races to football matches, it was fantastic to see so much skill, teamwork, and enthusiasm on display. Pupils competed with one another – and even a few teachers – during a fun-filled day supported by cheering parents and carers. The hall was buzzing with excitement as everyone gave their all. Each pupil received a medal and a healthy snack to celebrate their participation and positive spirit. A huge well done to everyone who took part, and special thanks to our Head Teacher, Abigail, for organising such a memorable day!
Our pupils have been exploring how different materials dissolve in water, investigating which formed a solution – and which didn’t! To round off the day, they enjoyed a sensory session with playdough, sand, and even a Barbie spa setup – combining science with creativity and fun!
Our pupils have been enjoying a range of exciting and educational team building activities. In one challenge they had to cross the playground using only tyres – without touching the ground! This fun task encouraged teamwork, strategic thinking, and clear communication as they problem-solved their way across. In the classroom, the focus turned to travel and geography where they researched global destinations, learned how to book tickets, calculated distances, and even created their own colourful travel itineraries – complete with vibrant images of the cities they explored.

Our pupils have been exploring their creativity in Art. They experimented with cool and warm tones to craft unique representations of the sun and moon. In addition, they’ve worked on cross-stitch projects to explore the science behind the cycle of day and night, alongside a range of other inspiring arts and crafts activities.

Our pupils have been excelling in Creative Writing, with one pupil submitting a poem to the Young Writers Competition. We’re thrilled to share that his poem was selected to be included in their published book. Additionally, one talented resident at The Pines wrote a Children’s Book about thrilling dinosaur adventures, featuring all of our staff as characters!
Our pupils had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas Jumper Day and their annual Christmas Fayre, raising an impressive £200 for a homeless charity. They showed off their creativity by preparing a range of homemade treats, including hot chocolate stirrers, reindeer food, shortbread, cakes, gingerbread, cookies, and Oreo truffles. They also handcrafted Christmas decorations decorations and enjoyed a variety of fun games, such as Pin the Nose on the Reindeer, Catch the Fish, and a Guess How Many Sweets Are in the Jar challenge!

Our pupils have been engaging in hands-on experiments in their Science classes. They’ve been exploring the concept of density and how it varies among planets depending on their distance from the Sun. To illustrate this, they used materials such as hollow plastic eggs, rocks, lentils, a kitchen scale, and a water jug.

On World Children’s Day, pupils studied children’s rights in History, focusing on the evolution of access to education. They examined Lord Shaftesbury’s efforts to promote education and his significant role in improving the lives of Victorian children, many of whom were forced into work instead of attending school. The pupils also created their own “Stop Child Labour” posters as part of the lesson.

We hosted our its annual Sports Day before the end of term where the children (and adults!) enjoyed engaging in a variety of activities from sack races, to football and cricket, before being awarded special prizes.
Our pupils enjoyed learning about the Vikings, and took part in their very own reenactment! Armed with handmade shields, they divided into two groups for a strategic invasion game – with one group representing the Vikings and the other representing monks at the Lindisfarne monastery.

In Food Technology, pupils have been exploring different sweet and savoury dumplings from around the world. They took part in a special masterclass where they learned how to make Chinese pork and prawn wontons, Indian gulab jamun, English cheese dumplings, Italian Malfattis, and Japanese soup dumplings. Not only was the experience fun for all, but it also assisted our pupils with developing their fine motor skills. There were also plenty of laughs and giggles when they attempted to master the art of using chopsticks!
